Department of EEE

Announcement
The Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) education has achieved a tremendous growth due to technology update day by day. The essentiality of EEE education is also increasing with multi-disciplinary nature. All the areas of the Electrical and Electronic engineering are increasing rapidly and new areas of this subject are being created. Thus role of Electrical and Electronic Engineer has changed significantly. Now-a-days, the employers demand for recruiting an Engineer with excellent communication skills along with multidisciplinary Engineering. By remembering this, the overall structure of the EEE Department has been planned. The main area of the EEE department curriculum has been focused on four major areas- power and energy, electronics, communication and computer in the undergraduate program. A student is expected to choose in one of these groups without compromising the fundamental knowledge in EEE. Moreover, courses in basic science, mathematics, relevant branch of Engineering including laboratory experience has been added in the structure. Other courses like humanities, social sciences, ethical principles and management has made attention to the development of effective written and oral communication skills. Furthermore, technical elective coursework has been added which influences individual interests and provides the opportunity to acquire further knowledge in multiple disciplines facilitates with analytical problem solving, teamwork, and engineering design skills.

Our specifically targeted curriculum will prepare graduates to compete in the high-tech job market on a global scale. Additionally it can help the students to target foreign job opportunities, both in public and private sector in the diversified areas, such as, Electrical Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Telecommunication Industry, Wireless and Mobile Telecommunication Companies, Satellite Communication Systems, Integrated Circuit (IC) Design, Satellite Television Channels, Switching Systems, Networking, Consumer Electronics Manufacturer, Process Industries, Textile Industries, Computer Industry, Microprocessor and Microcontroller based Systems etc.

Among four departments in Z.H Sikder University of Science & Technology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering department is the largest one in terms of the number of faculty members and students. The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) offers the undergraduate academic program of B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In addition, it also offers evening courses for diploma holders. The university authority is giving the attention to collect quality students from home and abroad. Alumni of this department are serving with good reputation and success in many organizations, multi-national companies, and educational institutions. The future for graduates from our department looks very promising both at home and abroad because there is shortage of quality graduates in the market in the field of power and energy, electronics, computer and communication engineering.

It’s our commitments to provide the students various modern laboratories equipped with the state-of-the-art, training kits, measuring instrument and simulation software. Teachers and students of this department work in solving problems in the conventional and emerging fields.

The department has recruited well-qualified faculty members graduated from BUET, RUET, KUET, CUET, RU and other foreign Universities. They are very much dedicated and committed to our students. They provide best efforts to the students and engage them in teaching, learning and research. The research areas of the faculty members include power, energy, electrical machines, semiconductor device modelling and simulation, digital signal processing, power electronics, control engineering, optical fibre communication, mobile telecommunication, microwave engineering, electrical engineering education etc. Faculty members of this department take part in active teaching, research activities, consultancy, collaborative research work, curricula and laboratory developments of the university etc. In future, department will introduce more programs M. Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The department has EEE Club through which students untapped talents and potentials are explored by conducting various extra and co-curricular activities, such as, industry visit, seminar, work shop, project fair, quiz contest etc. The department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Z. H. Sikder University of Engineering & Technology (ZHSUST) is highly focusing on its vision, mission and program educational objectives to place itself on the top position in the country. So far with the available resources and facilities, it has succeeded to provide their best service in order to produce quality engineers. It is expected that the support of different organizations and the alumni of our department will continue and increases in the days ahead so that vision, mission and educational objectives fulfil students demand.
